Direct Speech
(Direct sentence) is a sentence of words spoken by the speaker directly.
Sentences are not connected by "that" but should the comma
punctuation.
Example
of Direct Speech sentence (there are quotation marks) :
- Tom said, “I don’t like chocolate”.
- Mary said, “I am planning to take a trip next week”.
Example
of Indirect Speech sentences (no quotes there but there is the word
"that") :
- Tom said that he doesn’t like chocolate.
- Mary said that she was planning to take a trip next week.
